Israel Defence Forces Accusations and Accountability
On 20 August, Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong expressed outrage at decisions announced the previous day by Israel’s Military Prosecution concerning five incidents examined by Israel Defence Forces (IDF) General Staff Fact-Finding and Assessment Mechanism (FFAM). On 21 August, Canada and the United Kingdom made a similar joint statement with Australia.
The statements accuse Israel’s military justice system of a lack of accountability for criminal misconduct.
